Montini Catholic High School in Lombard was proud to host a Fall Mini College Fair for students during the week of October 2-6. "This is the second year in a row that Montini has hosted the informative week during lunch periods," said organizer, Ms. Jennifer Gawenda, College Admissions Counselor at Montini Catholic. "On average, 30 colleges and universities throughout the United States have come during this week to speak with Montini students about their institutions. The list of colleges in attendance includes both public and private institutions located in-state and out-of-state." Gawenda is happy to organize the fair each year, noting that it is a great opportunity for students to learn about their college options, to build their college lists, and to get any questions they have about the admissions process answered.
"From the moment our students walk in the door as freshmen we begin engaging them in exploring their interests, goals, career aspirations, and majors to help them find the best college or other post-secondary fit," said Gawenda. "This fair is just another way to engage them in the process."
The Montini Catholic College Preparatory Experience prepares each student for success in college and in life. The Lasallian Mission of Education enriches the whole person through classroom instruction, use of technology and the development of the student's cultural, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual well being.
"We pride ourselves in preparing our students for the college and helping them navigate the admissions process," says President Jim Segredo. "Last year alone, our seniors received over twenty-million dollars in academic scholarship offers from colleges nationwide!"
Traditionally 99% of Montini Catholic graduates continue their education in some of the most prestigious universities and colleges throughout the United States. In addition to the personal attention students receive from their counselors, they are also aided in their college and career search through the Naviance college and career software program, regular visits from college admission representatives, college planning seminars, an annual college fair and Career Day.
