Montini Catholic's newly formed Peer Ministry Team is sponsoring a food drive during the Lenten season. Members of the unique ministry team were visited by Father Bryan, from the Missionaries of the Poor, and Sr. Divine and Sr. Verna, from the Compassionate Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, earlier this year (February 8th). Father Bryan enthusiastically led the students in song and prayer as he informed them about the work done by his ministry, encouraged them to give thanks for their abundant blessings and inspired them to help the poor of Haiti.
The food drive is called the '1- 4 Haiti Lenten Food Drive.' The Peer Ministers introduced the drive to Montini's student body after Ash Wednesday Mass (March 6th). They also spoke to individual homerooms and hung posters throughout the campus in the hopes of inspiring great participation. The ministers plan to collect the food every Friday. To further their collections, the group is planning a bake sale during Week #4.

Montini Catholic introduced the newly formed Peer Ministry Team in the fall of last year. The group is a faith-based ministry made up of student leaders. The Lasallian school's Peer Ministry Team's mission is to inspire and motivate by example and to encourage students to engage in faith-based activities at the school and in their communities. "We want to increase opportunities for students to grow in their faith," explained Theology teacher and Peer Ministry advisor, Ms. Katie Wall. "We think that providing opportunities lead by the students, themselves, will make them more meaningful and desirable.
